MAGNETIC COMPASS COMPENSANTION AND ADJUSTMENT

A compass compensation is suggested when:

• it’s first time installed,
• the compass shows physical flaws,
• registered deviations are excessive or unreliable,
• your ship undergoes structural repairs or alterations that could affect its permanent and induced magnetism,
• electrical or magnetic equipment near the compass is added, removed or altered;
• or a period of up to two years has elapsed since the last adjustment and no register of the compass deviation has been maintained.
